This battle was an engagement during the Second Italian War of Independence in which Italian volunteers from Giuseppe Garibaldi's Chasseurs des Alpes defeated an Austrian force, forcing the Austrians to abandon the city of Como.
The first of the R-SB series (Small Battles) is also the first devoted to the Italian Risorgimento. Players can play both phases of the battle or the whole battle with optional rules for better Austrian training and troop control.
Based on activation tokens and operational orders, the game system is centered on the totally different battlefield of the Italian theater which forced the two armies to fight "melee to mouth" battles by sending company after company. Counters represent individual companies, cavalry squadrons and half batteries.
