However, the castle was not captured and the Teutonic troops began to regain control over most of their areas. The Poles managed to capture Koronowo, so the Teutonic Knights, surprised by the Polish readiness to fight, began to retreat. Horse archers gave chase. Seeing that it would be impossible to avoid a fight, the Teutonic troops stopped on a hill located 7 kilometers from Koronowo, where they took up a convenient position to end the battle with one attack. There was a battle in which the Poles managed to capture the Teutonic banner.
